If you could magically make your dog brilliant at **ONE thing**, what would you choose?

Would it be…

🐶 A rock-solid recall?
🐶 Walking nicely on lead?
🐶 Ignoring other dogs?
🐶 Settling anywhere?
🐶 Doing amazing tricks?
🐶 Heelwork?
🐶 Confidence?
🐶 Being able to go anywhere with you?
🐶 Something completely different?

This is one of my biggest training bugbears. 😂

Dog doesn't do the behaviour.
“Sit.”
Nothing.
“Sit.”
Nothing.
“SIT!”
Still nothing.

So we ask again.
And again.
And again…

…and somehow expect the dog to magically get better at it.

But what are we actually practising?

**Not listening.**

If your dog is struggling, repeating the same thing louder and more often isn't usually the answer.

I'd rather ask:

🤔 Is the behaviour too difficult?
🤔 Is the environment too distracting?
🤔 Does my dog actually understand what I'm asking?
🤔 Is there something else going on?

Then I'd make it easier -Get a successful repetition.

Reward it.- Build from there.

Because good training isn't about seeing how many times you can ask your dog to do something.

It's about creating successful repetitions that make sense to the dog.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is take two steps backwards.

That's not failure - That's training. ❤️
